Objectives Study the Microsquirt Project. Adapt to Harley Davidson Motorcycles – Injection Timing – Engine Specific Sensors and Signals Design our own EFI Controller Design a convenient connection method 2

What is a Microsquirt? Electronic Fuel Injection Controller – Compact – Less Driving Current – Suitable for Motorcycles or other small vehicles Programmable by End User 3

Connection Method 4

Previous Progress Schematic and Layout in EAGLE Fabrication of custom board Component population of board Research in Microsquirt project and engine control 5

Board Layout Layout Specifications Two layer board Two separate ground planes to reduce noise –Analog (High power 7.5A max) –Digital (Sensors, Serial) 1 st version parts on 1 side Standard 20 mil trace –100 mil for MOSFET drain to source –9 mil on microcontroller Total board side 6.3x4” 6

Testing 7

Future Project Goals Main Goal: – Custom board controls one function on the Harley Sub Goals: – Build and test breakout board – Detailed flow chart of Microsquirt code – Modify Microsquirt code for Harley – Resolve any circuit or layout issues with custom board 8
