1 Educational Conference Call Series on Institutional Review Boards and Ethical Issues in Research Jointly sponsored by: Community-Campus Partnerships for Health & The Tuskegee University National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care

2  Founded in 1996 to promote health (broadly defined) through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions.  Focus includes service-learning, community-based participatory research and broad-based partnerships.  Growing network of over 1,300 communities & campuses across North America and increasingly the world.  What ties us together is our commitment to social justice and our passion for the power of partnerships to transform communities and academe.

3  Established in 1999 as the nation's first bioethics center dedicated to addressing bioethical issues of importance to African Americans and other underserved populations.  The only bioethics center at a Historically Black College and University.  Mission is to promote equity & justice in health and health care.  Conducts education and training programs, fosters respectful community partnerships, advances interdisciplinary research, and advocates public policies that improve the health and health care of all Americans, particularly the underserved. The Tuskegee University National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care

4  Increase understanding of the role of IRBs and other mechanisms for assuring that human subjects research is ethical and appropriate - both at individual and community levels.  Provide options and tools necessary for communities to determine the approach that is best for them.  Inform the development of future initiatives undertaken by CCPH and the Bioethics Center on IRBs and ethical issues in community-campus partnerships.
