EGGXPRESS

GOALS Get as many eggs as possible in a package that will pass through a 14” dia. hoop. Have as many eggs as possible in that package survive a 4 story drop without aerodynamic help. Write a high quality report on the package development.

OTHER SPECS Only raw, large, white, fresh eggs. Only paper (masking) tape No egg treatments. No aerodynamic devices (i.e.parachutes) Nothing that will spill or become rotten. (i.e. no jello, peanut butter)

SCIENCE diagonal ² = l² + w² + d²= 3l² Potential Energy=mgh Kinetic Energy= ½mv² –IMPULSE (change in momentum) =Ft = force x time

HOW IS IMPULSE USED TODAY? Tires Shock absorbers Mattresses (Tempur-pedic©) What else can you think of that stretches the time of impact and, therefore, reduces the force on the eggs?

TYPICAL MATERIALS CARDBOARD BUBBLE WRAP FOAM PEANUTS PIPE INSULATION YOU NAME IT!
