RMIT Timetablers Quarterly Meeting July 2010
RMIT University©2010 Property Services, Space Planning and Management 2 Named Availabilities Please use existing named availabilities, or request new ones from one of the helpful and cheerful central timetabling office staff A good example of this is Student Placement –exclude student placement from all activities availability. –If you have trouble doing so, please call me – it’s what I’m here for.
RMIT University©2010 Property Services, Space Planning and Management 3 Rescheduling Making changes to any booking requires you to unschedule the activity before making any changes. Changing the duration and modifying WITHOUT first unscheduling may cause you to lose the booking, or cause a booking problem with another class. You WILL NOT lose the location, if you don’t write back, until you have rescheduled the class successfully. If you change the duration WITHOUT unscheduling first, you will cause a conflict and the other (non-conflicting) booking will be given full right to use the space.
RMIT University©2010 Property Services, Space Planning and Management 4 Notional Control of Space As part of the roll-over each year, some centrally managed classrooms are pre-determined as important to specific schools to meet their physical, or geographical needs. These spaces are closed to all other users for the first six weeks after the new Syllabus Plus database is released for your use. Following the six week period, the space will be opened to all other schools to book into.
RMIT University©2010 Property Services, Space Planning and Management 5 Programs of Study Programs of study are incredibly useful for you to track your students academic career, and assist you in producing a clash-free timetable. Some of our biggest users of PoS include: –Electrical & Computer Engineering –GSSSP –Applied Sciences, and, –Civil and Chemical Engineering I heartily encourage you to have a look at Programs of Study for 2011.
RMIT University©2010 Property Services, Space Planning and Management 6 Leave Notification Taking Leave? (lucky) The Central Timetabling Office and it’s staff would like to assist your school while you are away. To do so, we require notification from yourself or your School Manager, so that our team is prepared for calls/enquiries from your school. (we take leave too – and it’s embarrassing for you if your school calls our office looking for someone you’ve nominated in your leave message, only to find they too are on leave) It is also preferred that you have a nominated single contact. Someone who can field enquiries from school staff and feed them through to Property Services.
