Embedding - for better collaborations - Toshiyuki Takahei RIKEN

Introduction I’m working on developing... –Solar System Simulator and its related products –“Universe” Science Live Show (for 9 years) –Stereoscopic Digital Dome Theater –and more. Today’s Keyword : Embedding

GLStereoPlayer (glsp) Stereo Movie/Image Viewer Supports many movie/image formats, stereo source types and output types. One source for many stereoscopic systems. Open source, a good start point to implement a movie texture in your 3D engine. Next step...

Make it be embeddable!! 1.ActiveX – Microsoft’s technology for making an embeddable component in applications, documents and websites.

Example: glsp in PowerPoint With a GeoWall system, you can show both a presentation and stereo resources seamlessly. Embedded Here!!

Partiview (and Embedding) As you know, Partiview is highly useful. Scientists themselves visualizes data with it. What happens if it becomes embeddable?

Example: Partiview in PowerPoint Demo – how to embed Partiview in this page.

Example: Partiview in PowerPoint Powerful and easy to use. Encapsulate dataset in your presentation. Archive visualizations with documents. VBA scriptable. Embedded Here!!

Example: Partiview in Web Browser For making an interactive documents. Build your original user interface with usual html, interactions with JavaScript, etc. Publish it over the internet as it is to make an interactive visualization web site.

Make it be embeddable!! 1.ActiveX – Microsoft’s technology for making an embeddable component in applications, documents and websites. 2.Xtra – Macromedia Director’s plug-in architecture. This most powerful authoring tool make your contents highly attractive.

Example: Partiview in Director / Xtra “Macromedia Director” is a de facto standard authoring tool for multimedia contents. Rich-media contents development, built-in LINGO script language, Shockwave online publishing and wide creator community.

Example: Partiview in Director / Xtra

Director / Xtra for designing GUIs

Make it be embeddable!! 1.ActiveX – Microsoft’s technology for making an embeddable component in applications, documents and websites. 2.Xtra – Macromedia Director’s plug-in architecture. This most powerful authoring tool make your contents highly attractive. 3.3DCG Software plug-in – Make full use of its productivity and know-how for designing real-time and pre-rendered scenes.

Example: Partiview in 3DCG Software MAYA, 3DSMAX, Lightwave3D and so on. Use their Plug-in SDK. Demo

Example: Partiview in Lightwave3D

Of course, there are lots of skilled creators in 3DCG community. Direct way of sharing scientific data with scientists and graphics designers. Design a fly path and object animations for Partiview’s interactive scene. Design a full scene, add any objects you want, then render to a movie.

Conclusion – from other point of view Embed in documents –for interactive presentations and archiving Embed in web sites –for easy publishing and sharing Embed in content development workflow –for productivity and better quality Embedding for better collaboration
