Founded in 1987 as a merge of 2 previous agencies (ANOP and NP) Stockholders: Portuguese State (50,1%) + Private media groups (49,9%) Brief profile LUSA (1) Where is LUSA

Production – daily average of: 400 texts 90 photos ( from EPA) 30 videos 20 audios 1 animated infographics 60 multimedia stories (more than 1 type of content) Digital archive – approximate volume of: 5.4M texts 1.2M photos videos, audios, stories, 300 infographics Brief profile LUSA (2)

Customers include: Basically all Portuguese media companies and groups (newspapers, TV and radio stations, magazines etc) Other Portuguese institutional organizations (like non-media private companies or public bodies) International media customers, mainly in the CPLP countries Distribution through several different channels Variety of services, traditional and customized to market segments or even to specific customers Brief profile LUSA (3)

Production of videos to web portals and mobile, project started in 2008 Duration of 1.5 to 2m in average for each video clip All journalists trained on how to use video and audio equipment With the help of local university experts, journalists learnt techniques for best shooting in every scene / situation Journalist also learnt how to edit video and audio clips, including voice over and subtitles (using a semi-automatic program) Training was done in several phases, being the last ones conducted already by internal key users Multimedia - Video (1)

Designed and built one multimedia kit, with all necessary equipment: laptop, video and audio equipments, plus various accessories and spares, like several types of microphones, tripod, lights, extra batteries etc Objective is that 1 journalist is autonomous, if and when necessary, to do all type of production for a coverage like text, photo, video and audio The adoption of the new processes by the journalist community is a major success Currently more than 80 multimedia kits in the field, all over Portuguese territory and in all world cities where Lusa is present Multimedia - Video (2)

Started in 2009, with initial training from university experts No tradition in infography production at Lusa before (still, 2D) Building small internal team in this specialty Customers are publishing the flash infographics into their web portals Some animated infographics are simple but others are very sophisticated, including the usage of one DB in the background (example: local elections) Multimedia – Animated infographics Some examples: Diving Formula 1 Football

Prototype developed in 2009 To be used in screens at any public places, in private or public sectors It includes news items with photo related, videos, slide shows and other information (like weather or stock markets) – all in real time Channels per customer (or even per region or screen, inside the network of the customer) Adding to the news from Lusa, may display institutional information/contents from customer, advertising etc The mix and duration of each component is customizable This is a great tool of marketing and communication Multimedia – Corporate TV Some screen shots - example:

Building prototypes for white label mobile applications Totally integrated with LUNA system, feed in real time Starting with iPhone and Android platforms Target are media customers (using their brand) and also non-media companies It includes Lusa news (text, photo, video) And it may include also the customer contents or specific customer areas GPS used for geocoding contextualization Possible live streaming of video and interactive advertising Multimedia – Mobile applications Some screen shots - examples:
