LLV aims to connect end-users, regardless of their location, with material held in all Victorian state libraries LLV has expanded on the existing use of VDX by the Murraylink consortia across the state State government funding for implementation over two years

LLV allows end-users to search for bibliographic records, create and monitor requests using ZPORTAL Log-in is authenticated against local SIP server Web Client allows administration users to process incoming/outgoing requests plus management of user records

Z39.50 protocol is used for information retrieval across multiple databases via a single interface The results can then be used to create requests ISO ILL protocol defines the services used for ILLs

ILL workflow: End-user searches remote targets via ZPORTAL and locates a bibliographic record for an item End-user places “Get it” request via ZPORTAL Request arrives in VDX database with status “To be Authorised” Library staff checks request and rota of potential suppliers via Web Client and submits request

End user follows progress of request by checking status on Zportal Supplier picks up incoming request and responds positively with “Will Supply” and “Shipped” messages Item is received and supplied to the end-user Item is returned to the supplier to complete the request

Search targets can be organised as profiles to suit end-user needs (eg. adjacent library services, Academic libraries, etc) LLV will generate requests to non LLV sites via LADD and formatted All payments are managed by the LADD electronic payments gateway

Electronic document delivery The sending and receiving of electronic documents is fully integrated in LLV Scanned documents are attached to requests and delivered in VDX via Drag and Drop Documents are forwarded directly to end-user in ZPORTAL

Conclusion: LLV functions as the interface for LADD LLV provides a hugely expanded service for Victorian public library patrons and supports the MAC vision Policy/workflow challenges Potential for future incorporation of Gulliver databases
