March 24th 2010MICE CM26 - Riverside1 Beam Line Paper m. apollonio – Imperial College

March 24th 2010MICE CM26 - Riverside2 - Some time ago I was thinking of putting together, in a comprehensive form, all that we know of the beamline - There is a lot of past and present information scattered around, shown at CMs, VCs, or found in notes and old document -It should be summarised in a consistent document - incidentally at the beginning of January I took some time to do some measurements on Q1 and D1 that were missing since the first characterisation of the BL a)Histeresys of the dipole b)Effective length of Q1 (Q2/Q3)

March 24th 2010MICE CM26 - Riverside3 - I was animated by this sort of tidying up spirit … - … when Alain asked me to coordinate a paper about the beamline - this talk is an attempt at structuring this article - and deciding topics … - and potential authors

March 24th 2010MICE CM26 - Riverside4 STRUCTURE Beam Line Layout (some historical interlude and reasons for the choice) Magnet Characterisation The Target Dipping tests Detectors Optics -Analysis of data (Q123 scan / Dsol scan / Proton Absorber …) The (e,P) matrix - introduction - optimisation of the line - emittance/momentum determination from data Diffuser … and beyond the Infinity

March 24th 2010MICE CM26 - Riverside5 DISCUSSION …
