General information My name is Tim Toxopeus. The game is EVE Online, it’s a MMORPG about spaceships. It has about simultaneous users at peak times, which means it has reduced time for path planning and collision detection. This leads to interesting behaviour.

What goes wrong? The spaceship gets stuck on the station, trying to warp towards the planet. –This most likely happens because due to the simple fact that path planning has to be done very quickly, the only collision check that is done is a sphere-sphere intersection test. –Despite the spaceship visibly clearing the station by quite some distance, the ship cannot manage to move away from the station.
