Requesting a resource x work-day’s notice for equipment delivery requests Software requests need to be made prior to the start of the semester, otherwise installation can take up to four weeks 5 work-day’s notice for most technician requests, room configuration changes Resources available for course-related activities as first priority, and are subject to availability
Equipment provided Projectors, Non-deliverable –16mm film projection (in selected venues) –35mm film projection (in Hoyt auditorium) Projectors, Deliverable –Computer projection (minimum XGA native, can handle up to UXGA) –Video projection (all non- ’computer’ sources) –Lantern and 35mm slide projection –Overhead projection –Document cameras (“opaque”) Audio (installed in rooms and/or deliverable) –CD deck –Cassette deck –Record player –Microphones (wireless and wired) Video (installed in rooms and/or deliverable) –Computers –DVD player (most with CD-R, DVD-R, and VCD capability) –Laserdisc player –VHS, PAL VHS –Video cameras (digital only)
Standard computer configuration Windows XP, Macintosh OSX DVD/CDRW drives, accessible USB ports, headphone jacks/built-in speakers, 17” flat panel monitors Core software: dozens of applications, including Office 2003, Adobe suite, Macromedia suite, Matlab, Minitab, standard ‘viewers’
Configuration philosophy Make the machine “like home”, eliminate failure –DriveShield –Let the user do whatever they want (Run, Search, Help, etc) Make the machine up to date –NetOctopus/FileWave Ubiquitous software; “everything everywhere” –KeyServer/FlexLM Standardization/diversification –Same basic features everywhere, applications always in same spot
