Responsibility #1 = Safety Anticipate hazards (and responses) –MSDS sheets for chemicals, common sense for others Vision – high vulnerability –Safety glass are worn always in lab –Contacts are never worn in lab A clean lab is a safe lab –Clean up spills (powder or liquid) ASAP –Wash hands when leaving lab –Be aware of leaks (especially in troughs) Are you allergic to Latex?

General procedure for lab Before day of lab –Download and print experimental procedure (EP) –Write up pre-lab materials Day of lab –Show up on time (ie early!) –Bring EP, pre-lab, notebook, goggles –Have TA sign off on pre-lab –Brief introductory lecture –Perform experiments, record data in notebook –Have TA sign off on notebook, bench cleanliness One week later –Turn in lab report to TAs before class (notebook pages, typed work) –One week turn-around in grading
