Learning Style Overview Learning is a cycle Four stages of the learning cycle Each person’s learning style is a combination of these different modes Many people have preferences for different stages of the cycle Better understanding of how you learn can help regardless of the teacher’s style

Learning cycle and problem solving You should be aware of your preferences so that when you are working on projects or problems you make sure that you don’t skip key stages in problem solving

Four Learning Style Types Converger-problem solving, decision- making, defining problems Diverger-imaginative ability, understanding people, brainstorming Assimilator-planning, creating models, developing theories Accommodator-getting things done, leadership, risk taking

Teamwork Positive interdependence - All members of a team must share a common, realized goal Individual and group accountability- each member of the team must take responsibility for both his or her work and the work of the team Meaningful Interaction- All members do real work in a face-to-face setting Group Processing - Periodic reflections on the progression of your work
