Presentation transcript:

Our question is: Will the viruses spread? What will happen with the drinkable water and with the air pollution? Will the ocean flood your country or will the desert spread in your country, and how will these things affect your lifestyle? When people will emigrate from your country, will be countries which will not allow emigration and will it induce a war?

Our answer is: One of the biggest problems today in Latvia is the swine flu. The swine flu has already reached Latvia and we already have one victim. Luckily, we are already informed about the symptoms and necessary actions to be done in case of the infection. Although there is currently no really safe and effective vaccine, Latvia has enough medical supplies to help infected people.

Water pullution As for the water pollution, there are some places in which water was polluted, although that didn't affect the quality of drinking water. So that is no real threat to our health.

Air pollution The air pollution statistics in Latvia is better than average data in the world, because our industry in not developed enough. The biggest threat is the Ignalina atomic power plant which causes radiation.

Flooding and desertification There is no chance that Latvian territory can be deserted, because of our location and climate. But the threat of flooding exists. According to some pessimistic prognoses the half of the territory of Latvia can be under the water if the level of World ocean rises!

Emigration It is possible, that we are needed in other countries as long as they are interested in cheaper labour force. Thousands of people are leaving Latvia every year in search of better life conditions and employment. But the emigration was never a reason for a war.
