Nordic research and training network ”Discovery Physics at the LHC” Paula Eerola Particle Days, Uppsala

Paula Eerola Particle Days, Uppsala Introduction This particle physics network explores the physics discovery potential at the Large Hadron Collider, LHC. The aim is to pull together Nordic particle physicists, theorists and experimentalists, to seek new physics ideas, and to study the experimental signatures of new physics.

Paula Eerola Particle Days, Uppsala LHC Physics LHC is the main particle physics commitment in the Nordic countries for the next decade, and all the experimental groups are involved in the LHC experiments. The high energy and luminosity of LHC offers unprecedented physics opportunities: exploration of the high energy frontier, and precise measurements of heavy quarks, W/Z etc.

Paula Eerola Particle Days, Uppsala New physics is bound to appear in the 1 TeV energy scale: One or several Higgs bosons, observable at LHC below about 1 TeV. Supersymmetry: supersymmetric particles Extra dimensions New Physics

Paula Eerola Particle Days, Uppsala The Nordic Context Nordic particle physics research groups are typically small Use network to create centers-of- excellence with both experimental and theoretical competence Enhance supervision and training of research students

Paula Eerola Particle Days, Uppsala Nordic vs Worldwide Exploitation of LHC data: improve readiness for LHC data analysis and interpretation at the highly competitive world-wide physics community Concentrate resources for training young researchers

Paula Eerola Particle Days, Uppsala The Network Programme SUSY scenarios: investigation of new decays Extra dimensions and other new models Higgs sector Low energy consequences of SUSY: CP violation in B decays, rare B decays, top decays,...

Paula Eerola Particle Days, Uppsala Network Work Plan Work proceeds now in the following working groups: Supersymmetric and rare B-decays Extra dimensions and radions Gluino production Charged and doubly charged Higgs CP of Higgs hh->4b final states CP violation in top decays
