Reflection and Portfolio 1.Discuss Final Reflection 2.Reflection Planning 3.Teach Portfolio Peer Review 4.In Conclusion English 714 Ed Nagelhout 1 December 2010

Final Reflection The Final Reflection is your opportunity to show that you have met the course outcomes and to consider (and analyze) your learning experience throughout the semester.

Final Reflection In constructing your Final Reflection, ask yourself, most importantly, the following: How can I best show what I've learned this semester?

Final Reflection Points Organize your discussion around the outcomes. Review each course outcome (1-4) individually and indicate briefly how the work you have completed reflects achievement of each course outcome (and refer to specific work from the course). Conclude the essay with any comments about the course in general and what I might do to make the course better in the future. Write a thesis-based essay (2-3 single-spaced pages): Open with an introduction that establishes the context for your reflection.

Course Outcomes 1.demonstrate an advanced understanding of pedagogical thinking 2.locate pedagogical theories in their social and cultural context(s) 3.articulate relationships among diverging – even conflicting – pedagogical theories 4.demonstrate how "pedagogy" provides an oftentimes understood, and misunderstood, foundation for English Studies By the end of the semester, students will be able to

Planning the Final Reflection In small groups: 1.Review the course outcomes and define each one as precisely as possible for your purposes. 2.Survey all work that you've done throughout the semester. 3.Moving outcome by outcome, find evidence to illustrate how effectively you accomplished each of the course outcomes.
