6-8 minute package by the almighty lynsey gibson

the breif after our 3-4 minute package section had ended, conor split the class into groups for the 6-8 minute package (one hour long show), and i was lucky to land myself in team westlife. (mon the westys) we discussed our ideas and thought of a suitable radio station that our packages would be broadcasted on.

what am i doing my package on? i decided to do my package on the uprise of type 2 diabetes as being diabetic myself, and having a family history of diabetics, i thought id have a lot of knowledge and sources on this topic. i will start my package with a brief description of what diabetes is and the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes as not everyone is aware. then i will continue my package onto the uprise of type 2 diabetes, the symptoms, how to prevent it etc..

target audience our target audience will be year old listeners. also for my package, my target audience will be for diabetes sufferers. i think listeners will be intregued by my package as it can make them aware of symptoms of diabetes and what you can do to prevent getting it. as our radio station is bbc radio 2, with listeners ages 30-50, type 2 diabetes is aimed at people of that age range.

radio station the radio station id be broadcasting my package on is radio 2. it will be broadcasted late afternoon when the target audience are back from work etc.

style the style of my package will be informative. neither upbeat or down. i will include music that will fit to the topic i.e sugar dum dum dum dum dum dum oooh hunni hunni, sweet like chocolate booooy, my boy lollipop do do do do etc etc

aim the aim of my package is to inform people of type 2 diabetes and the dangers of it. i also think it will inform listeners of the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes as i dont think many people are aware.

legalities as my package is on type 2 diabetes, which tends to originate from being overweight or for people over 40, i will need to be careful not to offend anyone. my mum recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. she was a little overweight but not massively, so it doesnt necessarily mean you have to be drastically over weight. i will also need to stick to ofcom guidelines.

content the content of my package will include: presenter, music, sfx (maybe), interviews, vox pops, what is type 2 diabetes...

interviews being a diabetic, i have a lot of sources to help me with my package interivews. my mum and dad are both diabetic, iggy, and the doctors, nurses and patients at the diabetic clinic will be able to help me out. i was also thinking about getting in touch with someone from weight watchers or someone from a diet club to give information on why type 2 diabetes occurs with over weight people and if they have any stories to make my package more interesting. for my vox pops i plan to go round the college and ask students if they know the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

i hope you look forward to hearing my package :) MON THE WESTLIFE AAF IDST
