Week 6 IT 18 Choosing between two forms of the present tense (To be viewed as slide show)
Week 6 IT 18 Choosing between two forms of the present tense This teacher led activity asks the children to choose between the two forms of the present tense. The child’s task is to write their choice of present tense in the given sentence. The difficulty for the children is that there are two forms of present in English. The present continuous is used when people are doing something “now” (e.g. ‘He is skating well now’). The simple present is used when people do something regularly, often, usually, every day (e.g. ‘He usually skates every day’). The next slide is the answer sheet for each child to complete as they watch the IT presentation. These should be printed and distributed to the children before you start. A pencil appears on the initial slides. This is the cue for the children to write their answers. A prompt of ‘Why?’ appears. This is the cue for discussion about the correct and incorrect answers. They then receive feedback on the screen.
