The Good Times had lasted a decade Some People thought they would never end

But there had been signs Many people didn’t have a job or sufficient income

Family Farms were failing

But on Wall Street... Record profits followed record profits

Prices had never been so high...and brokers thought that it would continue

But it couldn’t last Stocks had more than tripled since the war

Efforts to stop the crash failed Thomas Lamont, Albert Wiggins, Robert Whitney

Panic spread into the streets People lost their life savings, businesses failed, banks closed.

The Looooong Fall Recovery didn’t begin until 1937
