Think that you can handle it?

What Degree do I need? Business Management Fashion Merchandizing Public Relations Conflict Management All of these are just a few examples of degrees that are necessary to be successful in retail.

MONEY! While most starting in retail earn close to minimum wage, there is much potential for pay increases due to promotions. Most cashiers start at around $13,000 a year. Most General Managers earn close to $100,000 a year including bonuses and commissions.

Why I picked this career? Ever since I can remember I wanted to work in a store. I loved the people, the environment and the constant exchange of money. Retail is a very fast paced and challenging career. In order to be successful, one must be highly motivated, outgoing, and able to multi-task.

How are computers used? Point of Sale (POS)-POS is a way of ringing out sales that are connected to inventory systems and banks for credit cards. Just in time inventory system (JIT)-A way to order in product as product is sold to avoid being out of stock of a product or burdened with excess inventory

Continued Scheduling-Many employers are now using computerized scheduling programs such as Staffworks to schedule employees according to projected buisness needs. Payroll-On a computer employees can punch in and out for their shifts and payroll can be processed with a click of the mouse saving a large amount of time.

E-Stores Many retailers are shifting from a brick and mortor store to a 24/7 webpage where consumers are able to have access to product specifications and place orders around the world saving money and time.
