Centres for Knowledge Exchange Centres for Knowledge Exchange (CKEs) are innovative partnerships aimed at developing good practice in knowledge exchange between institutions and businesses and within a specific locality, region or sector (HEFCE, 2007). Twenty two centres were established in 2004, and the West Midlands centre is known as Contact Knowledge Exchange (KE). All West Midlands Higher Education Institutions are members of Contact KE

Contact KE’s aims are to: –to stimulate and articulate intelligent demand from business –to increase the capability of universities to respond to identified business needs. We have eight theme groups and sport is one of these. We are the only regional group to highlight sport as a key potential within this sector

Wenlock Olympian Society The Society is devoted to preserving the ideals of Dr William Penny Brookes, founding father of the Modern Olympic Games It was in 1850 that the first ever Olympian Games were held here in Much Wenlock. The brainchild of Dr Brookes, the Games were originally designed "to promote the moral, physical and intellectual improvement of the inhabitants of the Town and neighbourhood of Wenlock“ Over subsequent years this concept inspired individuals & sporting organisations throughout Europe - inspiration that no doubt made a significant contribution to the re- birth of the modern Olympic Games in 1896

Accessing the Dream The project identified by early discussions for WOS and STG to work collaboratively Initial plan to: –Produce a teacher’s pack for KS1 and KS2 –Educational board game –Virtual town Reality has produced a draft version of teacher’s pack and will have evaluated this by September 2009
