Teacher’s Corner News from Mrs. Jao’s Class Dates to Remember Happy Chinese New Year! Best wishes in the Year of the Rat. I hope all of you had a enjoyable vacation and spent some quality time with your family and relatives. A special thanks to all the mothers and dad that helped with the paper cutting activity during our Chinese New Year Celebration. Thanks also to all the mothers that provided food for our Chinese New Year potluck lunch. It was fun to see many of the children dressed in their Chinese clothes and everyone enjoyed the delicious food. February will be a busy and exciting month because of the visiting author, Jack Gantos, and our Grade 2 Field Day. We are also looking forward to a visiting musician, Jim Valley, who will come to TAS March 3 – 7. We are busy learning some of his songs so that we can sing-a-long with him when he comes. Curriculum Corner Reading: Non Fiction Reading Center Activities and Guided Reading groups. Math: 3 Dimensional Shapes, Symmetry, Addition and Subtraction Stories, 2 Digit Addition and Subtraction with Trading Writing: Drafting and Publishing Fiction and Non Fiction pieces Spelling: Words with long vowel sounds and the different spelling patterns Theme: Experiments to learn about Air and Weather Feb. 15 Valentine’s Day celebration Feb. 18Visiting Author Jack Gantos talks to second graders Feb. 20Visiting Author Family Night 6:30 Feb. 28Field Day 11:55-2:15.
