Parliamentary Procedure Basics of Running a Meeting

What is Parli Pro? A set of rules to run a smooth well organized business meeting. Why use it? a) Allows for a smooth well organized meeting A set of rules to run a smooth well organized business meeting. Why use it? a) Allows for a smooth well organized meeting

What happens when we use Parli Pro? Talk on only one thing at a time Are courteous to everyone Allows the majority to rule Allows the minority their say Everyone should use it in any type of business meeting –Examples FFA, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Farm Bureau

Gavel- Symbol of Authority 1 Tap – Pass or Fail Motion, Sit, Adjourn 2 Taps – Call Meeting to Order 3 Taps – Members Stand 3 or More – Maintain Order

Basic Rules When starting new motion (idea) say “I move to…” or “I move that… Only one person can speak at a time To change a motion must say “ I amend” Motions can only be amended twice

To Lead and direct meeting Keep Order in Room Should not Discuss business-only give answers to questions Votes only to make or break a tie
