Classic Texts Modern Publishing Staff development by Cindy Compean Sharmaine Grove Loren Alldrin Deborah Pulskamp

Why Publish with Technology? Technology infused lessons create excitement in the classroom. Learners find multimedia projects satisfying educational experiences. (Green and Brown 2002)

Good Teaching Teachers become collaborators and coaches, instead authoritarians. Students construct their own knowledge according to skills and interests. (Kent 1999)

Guiding Questions How does the use of technology increase opportunity for learning? (NSDC 2001) Can it be accomplished with existing technology? Is the staff development required feasible and sustainable?

Staff Development Goals To expose teachers to two technology tools, desk top publishing and web page design. To motivate teachers to use these tools with technology infused lesson plans.

Shakespeare Unit Students will explore the works and life of William Shakespeare. They will synthesize the information they discover into multimedia projects:newsletters and web pages.

Scaffolding Students will be supported by predetermined text and Internet resources. Tutorials for Microsoft Publisher and Web Page Building with Word are included.
