Euro India Research Centre is supported by Project India Mentor (045535) which is funded by the European Commission under the FP6 IST Programme In 2005, the EIRC actuated a permanent platform for cooperation between European and Indian researchers. The EIRC is supported by the National Contact Point (NCP) network of India, established by the Government of India in EIRC helps Indian organisations access and benefit from EU funding for research in ICT. The National Contact Point for the ICT Programme in India is the Ministry of Information Technology. The NCP is supported by the IRSN network of which EIRC actors are a part.

The Euro-India Research Centre (EIRC) is the result of the combined experience of 2 FP6 ICT projects (INCITE and the ongoing India Mentor) and supports a permanent and fully- functional structure for EU-India collaboration in the IT sector. Euro India Research Centre is supported by Project India Mentor (045535) which is funded by the European Commission under the FP6 IST Programme INCITE worked to facilitate R&D cooperation between India and Europe in the ICT sector.
