UCTE Support from ITS Thank you for your support and assistance: –Obtaining a SMART room –Blackboard, multi-media, and video conferencing. –Data warehousing and campus information systems. –User Support Services –ITS Network Administration and Communications and Computing support –Looking into the future (Charette)

UCTE UCTE Technology Needs Evolve our lab to meet new state credentialing requirements and teacher preparation standards. –Explore with the Library the possibility of a joint UCTE/Library open-lab that will:  Ultimately contain ½ PC and ½ Mac computers.  Provide enhanced teaching environment.  Provide increased access for our students and possibly other Cal Poly students.

UCTE UCTE Technology Needs (cont.) Acquire additional personal desktop video conferencing systems. –To alleviate travel time and cost for faculty supervising students in current field placements. –To expand our field sites to more distant locations.

UCTE UCTE Technology Needs (cont.) Upgrade our primary classrooms with Smart Panels. –To accommodate the use of newer technologies in our curriculum by our faculty and students in order to meet new state requirements.

UCTE UCTE Technology Needs (cont.) Enhance campus network infrastructure to support education from a distance. –Allow students to take coursework at a distance, particularly those in field placements.

UCTE UCTE Technology Needs (cont.) Keep the modem pool for connectivity to the campus. –Provides a connection for faculty and students. –The modem pool is very important for UCTE.

UCTE UCTE Technology Needs (cont.) Provide a location for faculty to receive and share files electronically. –Relieve accounts. –Encourage electronic communication between students and faculty.

Be certain of an adequate link between UC Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara county and SLO county school districts, and Cal Poly SLO. –Facilitate communication between faculty and future Educational Leadership doctoral program students taking courses and doing research.

UCTE UCTE Faculty Development Provide training that has a focused outcome, does not exceed 1 hour and is repeated at different times of the day. –Facilitates better attendance by faculty –Provide tools relevant for instruction.

UCTE UCTE Faculty Development (cont.) Provide options to encourage faculty to increase technology knowledge and use. –More diversified class schedule –More in-class support

UCTE UCTE Faculty Development (cont.) Find funds, grants or initiatives to acquire specific technologies and resources to learn and use them. –Enable faculty to model the use of new technologies to future teachers.

UCTE UCTE Requests for ITS Support Help Desk: Good work to route problems to correct solution provider FWP: Works well; a good program IMS: Great help with Blackboard and other multi-media technologies AIM: Good support. We do have additional needs for this next year
