Did you know that we use multiplication during the holidays? Well we do! Here are just some examples of where and how!
Valentine’s day There are 19 kids in Ms. Robertson classroom. Each student brings a valentine for every student. If 19 students bring 1 valentine for each student, how many Valentine’s will the whole class receive in all? 19 x 18= 342 Valentines
St. Patrick’s Day Each student in Ms. Robertson class found a four leaf clover. How many leafs are there in all? 19 x 4= 76 leafs in all.
Easter egg hunting Where would we use multiplication in Easter egg hunting? This is Harley and she’s going to help you.
How many jelly beans did Harley find? If there are 5 rows with 4 piles in each row and 5 jelly beans in each pile, how many jelly bean did Harley find in all 5 x 4=20 20 x 5= 100 That’s a lot!
Michael’s Birthday It’s almost Michael’s birthday and he wants to know how many presents he can expect!!
Happy Birthday to Michael! If his 3 friends give him two presents each and his Mom, Dad, Uncle and Grandmother give him 5 presents each, how many presents will Michael receive in all? Did Michael get more than 12 presents?
How many presents did Michael receive? 3 x 2=6 4 x 5= = 26 Michael received 26 PRESENTS wow!

Snowflakes In some places in the United States it snows in December. If 900 snowflakes fall in 1 minute, how many snowflakes falls in 1 hour? Wow what a big number! 900 x 60= 54,000 snowflakes would fall in 1 hour
