Rome scanning report After training ( Brick # , ev. # from Salerno: relocated ), 4 bricks assigned - 3 in this report [1 more assigned >3 weeks ago, developed 2 weeks ago, then on plastic support, finally delivered lastr friday…] Brick – Ev tracks from CS (seem to cross rather downstream!): # 26 slopes , ( ) NOT relocated in automatic search # 1 “ 0.186, relocated in pl scan-back: track #1 lost since pl volume scan: track confirmed in pl. 57, then stop and no vertex - manual check: found as a nice micro-track only! good vertex (i.p. ~5 600 m below glass!) with the track #1 tr. # px py sx sy Npt (autom.) impact in base/glass side (manual) “ “ “ “ - Clean “QE” topology in the apparatus - Companion track with consistently high granularity in both CSd (Npt 29/30) and pl 57 (Npt 28) Our 1st event, will be published soon… (A. Ruggieri taking care) Brick – Ev [close-to-edge scanning, high fog...] - not found in CSd (-0.090, 0.248), just one track available (0.105, 0.029) > relocated in pl. 56, scanned-back to pl. 50 (not very effective: 4/7 found) > volume-scan performed pl. 55 -> 45 Results (see next slide): - bad alignment of plate 53; - good volume track in plates 57-52, then the scan-back track seem to split into another closeby path - the new path: with only one pl. missing (49), then stop - no stop point, no around Likely to besearched for in the next brick on the side! (Cross-check in progress in Salerno) Ankara / OPERA Meeting – Rome report – Apr 2nd, 2009

Rome scanning report Ankara / OPERA Meeting – Rome report – Apr 2nd, 2009 Summary Out of the 3 events digested, 2 vertices located ( μ attached) Both very downstrean (lead between pl. 56 and 57)… The 3rd event is likely to demand the extraction of the neighbour brick About to start the one just arrived: but we wish “continuous feeding” of the scanning job could afford to scan 2-3 bricks /week right now (1 microscope, 2 INFN technicians, looking for students; plate exchanger not installed, not yet “essential”) Hope to get more fun in the near future, with a bit more upstream vertices… …. Like the one borrowed from Salerno for training (thanks a lot to Cristiano and Regina for their support in the learning phase!) Brick # – Ev. # – located in Salerno, re-located in Rome
