ICDNET (I – ’Innovate’, C – ’Connect’, D – ’Develop’) Learning and innovation environment for embedded IT – Oulu University of Applied Sciences, School of Engineering Jari-Pekka Rontu

JPR ICDNET Primary goals To focus development, as well as to establish and maintain infrastructure for the embedded information technology area, which enables new wireless sensor training, demonstration and testing of applications Increase knowledge of low power wireless sensor network technologies for courses and application development projects (for example, UbiGo, supported by e.g. SoPC training project) To develop demos and pilots by implementing and testing selected technology platforms, using application ideas related to the device or SW prototypes

JPR ICDNET Other goals To strengthen partner networks with corporate sector and other players in the field  By providing subjects for students projects and theses (bachelor and master) for international students in the embedded information technology area  By developing of communication and proceeding activities  By common preparation and implementation of projects with companies, the University of Oulu and VTT Technical Research Center Integration of R&D activities, the industry-oriented projects and teaching The networks will help to direct courses and projects according to the needs of enterprises

JPR ICDNET Tasks (totally approx. 120 man-months until apr 2011) A1.To find out the basic technology solutions and commercial availability of low power wireless sensor networks (such as radios, rfid, nfc, software, sensors) A2.To implement of a low power wireless sensor network or networks and the development of testing environment for the technology platform and applications A3.Pienitehoisessa langattomassa verkossa tapahtuvien demojen kehittäminen (esim. paikannus) To develope application demos and pilots for low power wireless network (e.g. location) B.Project management
