Savanna

Location ► A lot in Africa ► Some in Australia, India and South America.

Climate ► Warmer temperature ► Two major seasons: wet and dry.  Wet: 15 to 20 inches of rain. It gets very humid. Occurs during the summer months.  Dry: About 4 inches of rain. A little cooler during the dry season. ► Savannas are located near the equator.

Species ► Many grass eating herbivores and things that eat them. ► Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, and Lions.

People ► The indigenous people of savannas are mostly tribes that live off of the land and animals. ► Some major impacts people are having today are over grazing and over farming, turning the land into dessert. ► The way this can be fixed would be to rotate crops and move grazing animals more frequently.

Natural Resources ► Because of the long dry season in savannas, there is a low NPP.
