1 You might want to think about:  Who this woman might be?  What kind of woman do you think she it?  Is she a mother, sister, daughter and/or wife?  Where is she?  When were the photos taken?  Why are we interested in her? Might she be a victim? Write down as many things (at least 3) you can take from these pictures of the same woman…

2 The Media & Society Learning Objectives: To understand how topical issues are portrayed in the news To recognise that there are different newspapers for different audiences To be aware of the effect of the media on the individual person’s views

3 Newspapers Pick out some key words or phrases in the articles which help you identify which newspaper the report comes from. What kind of reader do you think the different newspapers are aiming for? Look at the different newspapers all reporting the same story. Are there differences in the style?

4 Be a journalist… For your assigned newspaper you need to put together the front page. From the given fact sheet compose: 1.A headline 2.An introductory paragraph which you think is suitable for the reader of your newspaper. 3.You might also like to think of the type of picture you would use. You can use up to 3 facts and no more! Use the headed paper provided to do your mock front page.
