Takes advantage of natural groundwater flow –Draws contaminant toward the well faster than it would have arrived under natural gradient flow. –Minimizes the volume of water that needs to be pumped and treated. –Does not recover downgradient contamination. –Prevents downstream migration of contamination as long as pumping continues.
