What works? Start somewhere safe but move on to CHALLENGE pupils. Relate activities to a believable, real-life CONTEXT. Use Practical activities so pupils CAN DO the Science they are learning. Complex or dangerous activities need not be avoided – they can often be SIMULATED or MODELLED. Seemingly mundane, simple activities can be enriched by adding an element of COMPETITION.
