Mobile Lab  What’s that?!  Show-n-tell  Things to consider  Group activity  Q & A

What’s that?!  Mobile Lab  Total computer lab in a box  Available for checkout  For use in classroom, library, team meetings, etc.  FZSD invested in one for all secondary schools  Use for end of course exams (EOCs)  Extend lessons and help students connect

Show-n-tell  Basics  Security cabinet  30 laptops  Network printer  Wireless access to network & printer  District logins

Show-n-tell (contd.)  Detail  Exterior Cart/docking station (heavy when loaded) Lock & key (take at checkout) Lexmark printer 3 cables & hooks for cable management 3 forms  Interior 30 DELL laptops (labeled) 30 docking stations (labeled) Hub Wireless router/access point Power strips on timer (to cycle charging)

Things to Consider  Primary use is EOCs (4/11 – 5/3)  Check out in all-or-none fashion  Managed & checked out by librarian  Contact librarian to confirm availability & schedule  Librarian must be present at check out (to scan code)  Teacher must return before end of day  Scheduling through Microsoft Outlook to come…

Things to Consider (contd.)  Processes (3 forms available)  Teacher Check-out  Student Accountability  Issues List  Cables/Connection  Power to wall (i.e. not power strip)  Yellow network cable to wall (unplug your cable)  Blue network cable to PC (optional, unplug yours)

Things to Consider (contd.)  Time frames  Schedule 1+ week in advance (librarian or Outlook)  Request special software 2+ weeks in advance (IT Workorder)  Allow 5+ min. travel time with cart Arrange pick up with librarian (or consider 6 th hr. in library)  Allow 5-10 min. for student check out for student check in  Allow 2-5 min. for laptops to boot to shut down  NOTE: Time frames will improve with teacher/student practice. Updates might delay startup/shutdown. Recommend test.
