Presentation transcript:

What kind of programme is it? Sketch show Channel brief BBC One is the flagship television channel of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in the United Kingdom. Along with the BBC's other domestic television stations, it is funded entirely by the licence fee, and therefore shows uninterrupted programming with no commercial advertising. It is currently the most watched television channel in the United Kingdom, ahead of its traditional rival for ratings leadership, ITV1. Programme brief Matt Lucas and David Walliams take a comic look at life in Britain.

Format Little Britain was a British character-based comedy sketch show which was first broadcast on BBC radio and then turned into a television show. It was written by stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams. The show comprises sketches involving exaggerated parodies of British people from all walks of life in various situations familiar to the British. These sketches are presented to the viewer together with narration in a manner which suggests that the programme is a guide — aimed at non-British people — to the ways of life of various classes of British society. Despite the narrator's description of great British institutions, the comedy is derived from the British audience's self-deprecating understanding of either themselves or people known to them. Editing 2-3 minutes per sketch Straight cuts

Celebrity specials Regulars

Channel: BBC 1 Day and time of original broadcast: Monday Length: 30 minutes long Programme on before: News at Ten Programme on after: The Graham Norton Show

What are the audience pleasures?  Marge:- It parodies Weight Watchers, which the audience may be able to relate to if they are fat in real life. Also the fact that Marge is so rude to everyone and constantly teasing them about their weight even though its a fat fighters group, makes us laugh, and is quite hypocritical in the fact that she is also quite large.  Andy and Lou:- These characters give pleasure to the audience mainly from the fact that Andy is constantly getting out of his wheelchair even though Lou thinks he is disabled. This creates humour as Lou is trying to care for his friend without knowing what Andy is really like.

 Favourite quotations: - "Oh, in English please if you are going to say anything, Moira“ - markus1357- markus “ I really care about you, cause you are now, really, an enormous fat pig. Paul! You’re next.” - Macker44able- Macker44able  Easy to watch  Light humour with no serious topics addressed

Differences:  Lots of different characters and settings  On at a late time  No specific plot line at all Similarities:  Narrative resolution  Easy viewing  30 minutes long  Stereotypical characters  Laughter track  Same characters every episode  Visual comedy used, e.g. Slapstick
