Measuring the Nipple The caliper used to measure the nipple This picture is to show how we measure the length of the ferrule As one rotates the ferrule in the direction of the orange arrow the measurement we get changes. You try to make the ferrule parallel to the caliper to get an accurate measurement Nipple

Measuring the ferrule In addition as you rotate the caliber around the nipple the measurement changes. Note, we just started this yesterday so its possible the polished part nipple could be contributing to this effect These 2 effects are why I’m getting a variation in the measurement. As long as the variation is small compared to the tolerance we are OK
