3 Population Census History of Mongolia During the 20 th century Mongolia has conducted nine population censuses in 1918, 1935, 1944, 1956, 1963, 1969, 1979, 1989 and , 1979 and 1989 censuses were developed in accordance with methodologies recommended by Commission of Economic Mutual Assistance for socialist countries.
