Franco Piperno (President) Eugenio Gaudio Piero Marietti Paolo Camiz Nicoletta Ricciardi Antonio Rostagno Donatella Carini Pietro Lucchetti Started in 2006 on an initiative of the former Rector Renato Guarini, it operates with the support of an ad hoc Commission appointed by the Rector Luigi Frati. MuSa is now five years old and these years have been full of activity and have produced important results: by the founding of university orchestras and bands whose members are students, teachers and administrative staff, an important impulse was given to the promotion of knowledge, culture, education and solidarity inside the “Sapienza” academic community. Those taking part in the project range from the amateur player to the conservatory graduate. All of them are supported by a strong motivation to share the pleasure of music with people living in the same campus, believing in the cultural and human value of this activity. Moreover, MuSa offers an important service to the academic community: orchestras play on official occasions and during public exhibitions. MuSa takes place during the entire calendar year with the exception of the summer vacation. Celebrative and Cultural Events OfficePage 8 04/12/2011

Since 2008, MuSa Thursdays are regularly held at the Sala MuSa for the benefit of the students of Sapienza and the general public. Regardless of the content of the musical program (from a single piano to the orchestra to the big band) each of these events consists of a live musical performance and a listening guide – a type of lecture-concert by the conductors and musicologists of Sapienza or the young musicians themselves. Celebrative and Cultural Events OfficePage 9 04/12/2011

Other than in the Sala Musa (within the University), the lecture-concerts take place in other appropriate spaces of the University: the Aula Magna (predominantly), the cloisters of San Pietro in Vincoli (the Faculty of Engineering) and in University museums and lecture rooms. In addition, Musa can be invited to and hosted in other locations. Celebrative and Cultural Events OfficePage 10 04/12/2011

The lecture-concerts are held by the conductors Cortesi and Vizioli and by Professors Franco Piperno, Antonio Rostagno, Giorgio Monari, Paolo Camiz and Giovanni Giuriati. Celebrative and Cultural Events OfficePage 11 04/12/2011
