Review of Appendix 27, 27A, & 27B FA

Background In AY the following changes to Appendix 16 were approved: – elimination of the reconsideration steps of RTP process at the department and the dean review levels. –Increase in applicant response time to comments at any level to 10 days. Academic Affairs in consultation with the EC modified Appendix 27 (RTP Forms) in compliance with the changes.

Background Appendix 27A (Periodic Review Forms) assumes that post tenure and periodic reviews of probationary faculty is an RTP process. Departments may or may not use DRTPC for periodic review of faculty members

Recommendations Pages 2, 9 and 16 of Appendix 27 be changed to comply with approved changes to Appendix 16. Changes to appendix 27A are recommended to: –Indicate that periodic review of faculty is not an RTP action. –Periodic review of the faculty members shall be conducted by a peer review committee which may or may not be the DRTP committee. The committee will be referred to as Periodic Review Committee. –Distinct criteria for periodic review must be established by the department. The criteria may or may not be the same as the RTP criteria.

Recommendations No changes to Appendix 27 A (Part time faculty evaluation) is recommended.
