Braj is located 115 Kms from Delhi on NH-2, Delhi – Agra national highway The entire region lies well within the Golden triangle of Delhi – Jaipur – Agra

From New Delhi – Vrindavan and Mathura, two and a half hour drives (145 Kms) on the Delhi- Agra National Highway 2. Vrindavan and Mathura are at a distance of around 10 kilometers along the NH 2. From Agra – 2 hours by road (around 55 kms) on the Delhi-Agra National Highway 2. There are multiple trains to Mathura from these towns. From Jaipur- these towns can be reached in approximately four and half hours drive (220 kilometeres). Several train and bus connections are available from these locations.

Apart from all the history and the exquisite tales of the Braj, there is a lot to explore – Food, Streets, Folks, Culture etc. But let me warn you beforehand, if you are one who prefers the luxury and ambiance of high end hotels, then the city will disappoint.

The best way to explore would either be on foot or a cycle rickshaw which besides being cheap also lets you soak in the feel of the town at a leisurely pace. Apart from the cycle rickshaw, one also has the option of auto rickshaws which are not metered. These should be used only for longer distances. The Honking of rickshawallah’s is substituted into the pleasing sweet & the melodious name of goddess “Radha”. The folk’s in the vicinity of Vrindavan usually call “Radhey Radhey” to make the way on the roads. The only way to enjoy these small town with regards to food, is by hanging out at small roadside eateries which are referred to as mishthan bhandars or bhojnalayas. A day here and you will realize that the true taste of Braj lies in it’s streets!

Tucked in some corner with no nameplates, small pushcarts attract the biggest crowds, mostly localities and some tourists as well. A fresh brew of ginger, cardamom and some other spices thrown in and served in either kulhads (earthen mugs) or glasses, a tea stall is not simply a tea stall here but one of the many ‘sights’ of Mathura. Every other lane you enter in Braj, you will find sweet shops selling their famous Lal Pedas, Khuchran, Mava and lassi. A famous shop at the Holi Gate, Brijwasi Royal Mithaiwala is probably the biggest sweet shop that you will come across in Braj. Tea Sweets

An estimated 50 million pilgrims & toursits visit Braj annually! Vrindvan - Bankey Bihari temple, Radha Vallabh temple, Radha Raman temple and Radha Damodar temple draw pilgrims from all over the world to Braj. Pilgrims and tourists perform Circumambulation (called parikramas) & take part in the Kos Yatra. Lord Krishna’s divine play was manifested in Braj. It is said that this is the land where he performed the “Leelas”.
