SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department Overview of remaining labs in this semester This Lab and onwards will give you hands-on experience of using SAP R/3. These exercises are designed to demonstrate various SAP processes within SAP R/3. You will write small ABAP/4 scripts as well. As it is impossible to cover all modules our focus will remain on PP, MM, SD, QM and PM only

It consists of an international group, with subsidiaries in several countries. Consider yourself as an IDES employee to be part of a SAP application simulation IDES contains application data for various realistic business scenarios. IDES uses easy-to-follow business scenarios to show you the comprehensive functions of the R/3 System. The focal point of IDES, however, is not the functionality itself, but the business processes and their integration.

The IDES group manufactures products as diverse as elevators, motorcycles, and paints.

SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department SAP IDES INTRODUCTION IDES Logistics A variety of products are manufactured and sold using the different organizational units within the Logistics area. IDES provides all the resources required for production and assigns them to the corresponding products through bills of materials (BOMs) and routings. Each product or product group represents a particular production type. IDES contains fully-integrated business processes for the production or sale of the shown products or product groups:

SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department SAP LOGON A key concept “A must know” The R/3 System is a client system The client concept enables parallel working, in a single system, by several enterprises that are independent (in business terms) of each other. During each user session you can only access the data of the client selected during the logon. During your lab your enterprise or company or organization’s (SE464Lab) client ID is 800 which has been set as default. Go to e:\shortcuts\SAPLOGON icon to start SAP. Click on SE464Lab to start the logon process SAP needs a protected access therefore a user name & a password is required for logon.

SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department SAP LOGON Language setting and Multiple login SAP systems are available in several languages. Use the Language input field set to “ EN ” to select the logon language as English. Or if you leave it blank it will take English as default. You can have multiple logon with a single userID but it is highly recommended to login with you user name & id with only one log on.

SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department SAP EASY ACCESS You can also create a Favorites list of the transactions, reports, files and Web sites etc of your own. You can add items to your favorites list using the Favorites menu option or by simply dragging & dropping them with the mouse.

SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department You can use any of the three methods described earlier or as shown on the screen /n & /o option if using T-code Methods to Invoke various System Functions If using T-code and you are on a particular screen you need to go back to perform another task to do that you need to accompany your t-code with a ‘/n’. For example if your are in FD03 use /nSU01 to go to SU01 To perform task in another session use ‘/o’ before the T-code

SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department SAP Multiple sessions You can have multiple session in your SAP R/3 by which you can – have multiple transactions at a time – Open another session for reference at anytime without terminating the current one – A maximum of nine parallel sessions can be opened by user.

SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department A role describes a set of logically linked transactions. These transactions represent the range of functions users typically need at their workstations. Activity groups (user roles) are formed so that users of the SAP System can work with user-specific menus. Users who have been assigned to an activity group can choose between the user menu and the SAP standard menu. The screenshot shows the role-based user menu for the “Accounts Receivable Supervisor” as an example. Role Based menu vs. Standard menu

Master Data Data that remains unchanged for an extended period of time (in contrast to transactional data). Contains info that is used in the same way for similar objects. Examples are suppliers (name, address and banking information), materials, customers.

SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department Master Data contains the records that remain in the database over an extended period of time, are maintained centrally and shared across application modules to eliminate data redundancy. SE 464: Industrial Information systems Most Images and inform. used in these slides are SAP © Not to be used for other than educational purposes Systems Engineering Department The logic of the organization of master data and other procedures in the system is built on Organizational elements. These are: Company code--an independent accounting unit. Sales organization-- responsible for marketing. Distribution Channel-- the means though which sales material reaches the customer, e.g. wholesale, retail, etc. Division--used to segment a business into lines.
