 Dr. Hamad’s request to work as a Part-time consultant with Saud Consult, Riyadh  Revised CE programs Objectives  Feedback on our new CE programs from other departments Meeting Agenda

Revised CE programs Objectives 1.To produce high quality graduates with a strong background in civil engineering fundamentals that would enable them to pursue a professional career after graduation. To produce high quality graduates with strong background in civil engineering fundamentals who will compete in the job-market to secure a professional career after graduation.

Revised CE programs Objectives 2.To prepare graduates with the ability to apply the principles of mathematics, basic sciences and engineering in identifying, formulating and solving civil engineering problems. To prepare graduates, who will demonstrate in their profession, the ability to apply the principles of mathematics, basic sciences and engineering in solving problems.

Revised CE programs Objectives 3.To make graduates aware and appreciative of ethical, professional and social responsibilities. To prepare graduates, who will responsibly deal with ethical, social and professional issues faced in their careers.

Revised CE programs Objectives 4.To prepare graduates with an ability to communicate effectively and to help them develop personally with a recognition for the need to engage in lifelong learning. To produce graduates, who will communicate effectively in professional dialogues, and who will continue to develop professionally through lifelong learning.

Feedback on our new CE programs from other departments Math Dept.: It seems MATH 202 I(differential equations) is the only course after the calculus sequence that a student has to take. A course in Linear Algebra is necessary, (two universities NCSU and UC Davis, have a course in Linear Algebra. Response: Linear Algebra is taken in the Prep. year

Feedback on our new CE programs from other departments Earth Sciences.: The program is well prepared. The total credit hours for the general education requirement (72) are relatively high. It constitutes more than 55% of the total credit hours. Response: Comment 2 is not accurate. Fundamental engineering and science courses have been assumed as part of the 72 credits.

Feedback on our new CE programs from other departments Earth Sciences.: The program has lonely one free elective. It is advisable to have more electives to avoid the rigidity. For Additional Science, it is advisable to have it as: GELOL 201 or GEOL 202 or BIOL 102. Response: Due to KFUPM/ABET constraints, the program has one free tech. elective + 1 Science elective (BIOL xxx or GEOL xxx) + 1 Eng. elective (ME203 or EE204) + 1 GS elective. To be discussed during the meeting

Feedback on our new CE programs from other departments ICS : In the CE, one Core programming language course (ICS 101) from Information & Computer Science (ICS) Department is required. While in ACE program, one Core programming language course (ICS XXX) from ICS Department is required. Both programs have COE 202, CODE 307, and COE 3r41 as technical electives. Response: Both programs have ICS 101

Feedback on our new CE programs from other departments CHEM : BIOL 102 (Ecology & Environment 3-0-3) requires BIOL 101 (Intro to Biology 3-3-4) Response: It has been agreed by the College of Sciences to develop a new introductory course in biology that can be taken by CE and CHE students

Feedback on our new CE programs from other departments SE : The Program is well structured ARE: Revision is excellent

Thank You
