‘ Bread and Wine’ Breakout 2011 Penitence – on your own Word – in groups Intercession – in groups Peace – together, obviously Communion – more of the same

ReaderWe have said to God – “Give me what I deserve – what is rightfully mine” and when He seems to refuse, we say that He has not answered our prayer: ALLYET JESUS SAYS: DO NOT BE AFRAID. OUR FATHER KNOWS OUR NEEDS. IT IS OUR FATHER’S GOOD PLEASURE TO GIVE US THE KINGDOM.

ReaderWe have said to God – “I have sinned against You and against heaven. I no longer deserve to be called Your son – your daughter" and have not listened to God’s words of love – of tenderness – of forgiveness ALLYET JESUS SAYS: I DID NOT COME INTO THE WORLD TO CONDEMN IT BUT TO SAVE IT TRUST IN GOD – AND TRUST IN ME.

ReaderWe have said to God – “It is not fair that You treat sinners so well – haven’t I served You faithfully all this time? – and what have You given to me for my trouble?“ ALLAND JESUS SAYS: THIS IS MY BODY GIVEN FOR YOU; THIS IS MY BLOOD POURED OUT FOR YOU FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.

Reader In the name of Jesus who gave his life for us we ask God to stretch out his arm – to reach beyond our selfishness – our desire to live in independence from him – to touch and turn our hearts and feed our yearning to be reconciled to him ALLAMEN From

Malachi 3 ‘See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight - indeed, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. 2 But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap; 3 he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the descendants of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, until they present offerings to the Lord in righteousness. 4 Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years.

Come, all you who are loved by God, Come to the table of the Lord, Come and eat food with no cost, Come and drink with no money to pay. We come to eat, to drink, and our hearts are glad. Yes, Dear Lord our God, Our hearts truly are glad, and we are filled with thankfulness, Because in your great love You did not abandon us in the dark and fearful places of this world, But in Jesus, you came to us, to rescue us, to restore us, and to give us new life.

And all who are tired and burdened, all who are frightened and unsafe, all who are sick and broken, can come and find new life. We remember the way that Jesus showed us His love: On the evening before he died, He had supper with his friends. During the meal, he took the loaf of bread, gave thanks for it, broke it and then passed it around with these words:

This is my body broken for you. Eat this and remember Me. And, after the meal, he took the cup of wine, gave thanks for it and then passed it around with these words: This is my blood shed for you. Drink this and remember Me. And now, every time we eat bread like this, and every time we drink wine like this, we remember Jesus, and His everlasting love. ©
