Main Aim Gathering a group of European specialists and sharing their experiences and opinions aboutwith those of IVETTE participants

We are interested in: the transformations traditional HE institutions need to undertake to adapt themselves to the lifelong learning paradigm. arguing the need of a holistic approach taking into consideration the areas IVETTE is proposing for discussion. providing policy recommendations to the European Commission.

PARTICIPANTS European specialists in this area have been asked to present their views on the three main issues studied in the project: institutional/organisational problems teaching and learning approaches multi-cultural and multi-lingual issues

The Objectives To valorise and synthesise results of TSER projects and of projects with a socio- economic research dimension tackling issues related to VLE. To build an European conceptualisation and understanding of Virtual Learning Environments based on how are they implemented across different contexts.

The Objectives To draw on top class and leading-edge European expertise in order to examine the relationships between institutional, teaching and learning and multi-cultural and multi- lingual issues in VLE. To validate the results of the studies undertaken in the Thematic Network IVETTE.

Procedure Three speakers will make a presentation related to one of the three main issues studied. Other three experts will respond to these presentations and introduce new points of view

Procedure IVETTE partners will also respond to them Participants engage in an open discussion Last round for suggesting policy recommendations and identifying new research tasks

Expected Outcomes Validation of results of the Thematic Network IVETTE Policy recommendations for managers, practitioners and researchers of HE, and (secondarily) training institutions in the area of e-learning New research tasks for the 3 rd. Call and for the 6th. Framework Programme
