Situation You are a committee member of the Film Club in your school. Every year, the Film Club organizes a film festival for students. Usually the festival has a theme, and five films are shown.

Situation The committee of the Film Club is going to hold a meeting to discuss the details of the film festival. Before the meeting, each committee member has been asked to prepare a brief proposal for organizing the festival.

Task 1 – Web search To prepare for the proposal, you have to decide on the following: the theme for this year ’ s festival the five films to show at the festival how to promote the festival the target audience when and where to have the festival anything else you think is important

Task 2: Write a proposal Write a proposal to the teacher advisor of the Film Club. Use the information in the table of Task 1. Express your opinions of the five aspects of the film festival. You may also include additional information that you think is important. Remember to support your ideas by stating the reasons.

Proposal Outline (  handout on writing a proposal) Example: Para 1 – Introduction Para 2 – Theme Para 3 – The five films and target audience Para 4 – Promotion of the festival Para 5 – Time and venue

Task 2: Write a proposal Make sure you have included all the necessary information and used the correct format. To state the reasons, you have to use adverbial clauses of reasons. (  revision of adverbial clauses of reasons)

Task 3: Group Discussion Form groups of four. Discuss the details of the film festival based on the proposal you have prepared. Decide on the five aspects of the festival.

Task 3: Group Discussion Choose a secretary to record the discussion and report your final proposal to the class after the discussion.
