WORKDAY TECHNOLOGY Stan Swete CTO - Workday 1

Company History 2005 – 06 2007 2008 2009 2010 2 First customer Workday Founded 2005 – 06 2007 2008 2009 2010 WORKDAY CONFIDENTIAL 2

Workday - A Fresh Start New Delivery Model New Technology Software-as-a-Service Vendor takes on maintenance, upgrades, etc. Rapid delivery of functionality New Technology Object Oriented approach Rich graphical UE Web services for integration Fresh Approach to Business Problem Designed for today’s requirements Include BI, Global, Governance in the core Designed to work the way you work Those were the challenges we set out to solve. We had a unique opportunity to take everything we’ve learned over the past 20 years and take advantage of some dramatic technology changes to deliver a new generation of enterprise solutions. This is what we are going to talk about today. First, we’ll talk about how we take advantage of… On Demand Model – As you will hear in a few minutes from Bill, the On Demand model is rapidly gaining acceptance and is a better way to deliver an enterprise solution. The maintenance, upgrades, and running of the system falls on the vendors shoulders and the value is delivered to the user. As you will hear later, this also allows us to deliver new functionality 5x faster than a traditional application. New Technology – There have been many advances over the past 15 years and we have taken advantage of the best the web has to offer. Leveraging a service oriented architecture, XML, and an object oriented approach, we are able to separate the core objects from the UI which gives us the ability to take advantage of any of the latest technology. A great example of this in our latest version which we will show you today, we have introduced a completely new UI based on Adobe’s FLEX. Fresh approach – we like to say we are the first enterprise business management solution built since the web turned two, Sarbanes met Oxley, and the world became flat. From day one we have built key requirements – like business intelligence, governance, global, and others into the system. And, we have built a system that works the way YOU work which you will see is a very different approach than what is available today.
