POA’s What are they and why are they used?? Topic 0004 By: Walt Iciek and Nadja Koehler

What is a POA?? Program of Activities Serves as a ‘game plan’ for the chapter. Includes three divisions: Student Development Chapter Development Community Development

Divisions Each division can be subdivided into separate committees. Ex: finance committee leadership committee natural resource committee recruitment committee

Student Development Division Concentrates on opportunities for Individual and team leadership Personal growth SAE experiences Promotes Healthy lifestyles Scholarship Development of agricultural career skills

Chapter Development Division Focuses on Recruitment Finance Public Relations Support groups Participation in FFA and other organizational activities

Community Development Division Works on development of Economic, environmental, and human resources Citizenship Agricultural awareness and literacy Safety

Committees Each committee sets goals for what it wants to accomplish during the year and how it plans to achieve these goals. Ex:Fruit sale fundraiser Food drive Chapter awareness program Organizing community members for a clean-up activity (highway, river, etc.)

Committees continued… Each member is assigned to at least one committee. Committees are coordinated by the Vice President and are chaired by a corresponding officer.
