2 About the industry (I) The industry of legal activities in Norway*:  enterprises  employees  Total turnover: million NOK (1 103 million EURO) * Structural business statistics from 2007

3 About the industry (II)  90 per cent of lawyers and authorised assistant lawyers are members of the Norwegian Bar Association  Over 90 per cent of the companies are small (less than 5 employees) – accounts for about 39 per cent of the total turnover  The 29 largest companies (more than 21 employees) accounts for nearly 45 per cent of the total turnover

5 Price method Hourly charge-out rates (list prices) –In the questionnaire the respondent can state which price type that is given. –About 70 per cent state list prices The prices gets disperesed on: –Type of client (foreign clients, private clients, business clients, public administration and cases involving private persons paid by the public). –Type of employee (authorised assistant lawyer, lawyer, partner and any other staff). 10 Collection and revision of data From the 1st quarter of 2009 the respondents no longer receive a paper questionnaire in the mail. Data will quarterly be reported through IDUN (Statistics Norway's system for electronic exchange of data with business establishments). If this is not possible the respondents can order a paper version from a 24 hour hot-line service Data gets manually controlled and revised – supported by electronic auditing applications. Response rate  100 per cent (the survey is mandatory)

11 Publishing What? –Total index get published in an article together with other price indices for business activities.  Accounting and auditing  Business and management consultancy activities  Architectural activities  Car rental  Cleaning activities –3 sub indices gets published in our statistics database:  Foreign clients  Private households/clients  Business clients When? –Quarterly –Within 45 days of the end of the quarter (60 days for the second quarter – because of the summer holiday).
