Group Focus Conduct Net Sampling of Zooplankton in association with CIMT shipboard surveys Analyses –Zooplankton biovolume –Euphausiid (krill) abundance, species compostition, and demography –Gelatinous plankton (large medusa, ctenophores) abundance

T100 T101 T102 T301 T401 T501 T601 T701 T702 T402

Accomplishments to date Since Nov 2002 approximately 300 net samples collected from the CIMT survey grid All have been processed for biovolume, krill, and gelatinous zooplankton

Collaborations SWFSC-Santa Cruz Lab: Annual Juvenile Rockfish Recruitment Surey –Provide personnel/expertise for krill data collection PaCOOS: CalCOFI –Extend quarterly sampling to include central CA lines 67 and 60 –Collaborate with SCOOS to integrate euphausiid data base

User Groups MBNMS – Krill/Gelatinous plankton data utilized to characterized critical prey spp distribution within MBNMS NMFS – sample analyses for Leatherback Turtle foraging habitat characterization PMFC- input for krill management working group

Outreach Undergraduate research internships (UCSC) Cosmos Summer Science Camp (Grades 9-12)
