CATEMA™ Career and Technology Education Management Application CATEMA™ Training Workshop Jefferson College Tech Prep Director: Sarah Bright

CATEMA™ Training Workshop Understand what CATEMA™ is and what it can do for you Understand your role in the articulation process using CATEMA™ as a tool Understand how to begin using CATEMA™ immediately

CATEMA™ Training Workshop What is CATEMA™ ? Why do we need CATEMA™ ? Who can use CATEMA™? How does CATEMA™ work?

What is CATEMA™? An online registration and tracking software for Career and Technology Education (CATE) classes An easy to use method to enter, update, display, and report Tech-Prep related data

What is CATEMA™? CATEMA™ will assist in managing Tech-Prep information related to:  Courses  Individual classes  School districts  High schools  Instructors  Counselors  College registrars and advisors  Students TO HELP STUDENTS RECEIVE THEIR EARNED COLLEGE CREDIT!

Why do we need CATEMA™ ? To eliminate the need for the paper and pencil reporting system  Time consuming  Excessive paperwork  Limited info  Students often lose it

Why do we need CATEMA™ ? To increase the number of students receiving college credit from Tech-Prep classes upon high school graduation To encourage Tech Prep students to enter into related programs at the community college level

Why do we need CATEMA™ ? Tech-Prep students are graduating from high school at a significant rate However, only a small percentage of graduates are moving on to a postsecondary institution

Why do we need CATEMA™ ?

* Teachers enrolled all students in 2005 regardless of whether or not the teacher thought the student would receive credit. In 2006, many teachers only had the students enroll after observing their potential for completion with an 80% or better. Please enroll all students at the beginning. This helps with data collection for the Tech Prep program.

Why do we need CATEMA™ ? To assist counselors and instructors in advising students about the…

Why do we need CATEMA™ ? The Articulation Process Designed to allow a student a smooth transition from high school to a postsecondary institution No delays or duplication in education services Credit is awarded to students completing Tech-Prep courses that contain the same content as an equivalent college course When students graduate from high school they are able to transfer their articulated credits to Jefferson College

Why do we need CATEMA™ ? To assist counselors and students with career counseling To assist students in charting their Tech-Prep career pathways to earn college credit for their high school classes Students can save on tuition, fees, and books for every articulated college course Articulation helps encourage the continuation of a student’s education

Why do we need CATEMA™ ? To provide students with an electronic portfolio of all Tech-Prep course work completed To record skills learned and training received for potential employers to review and consider To help students prepare for the transition from high school to work

Why do we need CATEMA™? CATEMA™ will help to standardize and refine the articulation process by: Making the program easily accessible to everyone in Career and Technology Education Minimizing the tasks (paperwork!) required College Registrar can immediately transcript credit Providing data that can be easily obtained and printed in detail or summary reports
