Injection Test Meeting Tuesday 26th August Controls Issues/Results Injection Kickers Etienne CARLIER AB/BT

Injected BCT – BCT signal now OK (~15mv for 2E+09) – Still common mode noise between BI and BT racks during kicker MAIN switches turn-on – Try to reject noise with passive filter and/or better ground separation between BI and BT Softstart – Some initial conditions not yet taken into account when ON  STANDBY  SOFTSTART is performed (primary capacitor bank voltage to high w.r.t. requested start secondary voltage) – ConditioningIsValid timer is restarted when RCPS is pulsed and not only when we have current in the magnet… ConditioningIsValid is restarted if the injection prepulse is missing Injection kick (i.e. current in magnet) UTC timestamp – Information available in MKI CTRVs when current in MKIMA.D5R8 or MKIMA.D5L2 is detected. Not clearly visible in application GUI and in logging database – Add “xpocData” property within LhcMKIkick class with last valid injection kick data (UTC timestamp, settings, measures…)

RBAC – Unexpected (…unwanted) implementation of some RBAC features after a reboot of MKI FECs (i.e. no code modification) – Full implementation under progress (FESA2.9/RDA2.4) – Roles and Rules still to be created and tested Logging – MKIMA vacuum data logged into measurement and logging databases – Data reduction still to be optimized MKI GUI – Some “space” for improvements Timing enable/disable control SOFTSTART duration monitoring Injection Permit – Seems OK – BIS windows set to OK simultaneously for both injection kickers during interleaved injection operation – Monitoring in OASIS is OK

Timing – Slow and Fast timing distribution (i.e. kicker pulsing) even with NO INJECTION REQUEST from the Sequencer Inject and Dump – Adjusted for BEAM2… it should be possible to dump the beam after ¼ turn. Still to be done for BEAM1 – Frev / Prepulse synchronisation should not be changed (i.e. prepulse should be received before Frev at pt6) otherwise it will not work anymore – OASIS signals deployed for LBDS (B1/B2) Lost of synchronisation for BEAM1 injection (-4us) – Should not be linked to adjustment of “Inject and Dump” for BEAM2 – Reason(s) not yet understood Fine synchronization of kicker magnet current – Still to be done Kick / Beam synchronization policy still to be defined – BT kick delay Vs RF Bucket Selector
